Sources: Taliban return remains of former soldier to family after six months

Relatives of this former military official said on Tuesday, October 13 [21 Mizan], that the Taliban had detained him and his friend about six months earlier in the Tortang area, located in the first security district of Lashkar Gah city, and transferred them to an undisclosed location.

According to sources close to the families, the bodies of these two individuals had been abandoned in the deserts around Lashkar Gah after they were killed. They hold the Taliban responsible for the murder of Allah-Dad Badizi and his friend.

Sources added that on Monday, the Taliban summoned the families of these two individuals to the Helmand Security Command and handed over the remains of their bodies to their relatives.

Badizi's family had been striving over the past six months to learn about his fate and had even submitted a complaint to the office of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban leader, in Kandahar; however, these follow-ups yielded no results.

Allah-Dad Badizi was a resident of Marjah district in Helmand province. During the previous government, he worked in the Helmand police's counterterrorism management, and afterward, he commanded one of the National Security Force units.

Prior to this, on August 28, 2025 [6 Asad 1404], reports citing local sources had emerged stating that Taliban intelligence had detained Badizi from in front of his home in Lashkar Gah city. Eyewitnesses at the time said that intelligence agents had beaten him during the detention and forcibly placed him inside a vehicle.

Badizi's relatives had announced at that time that Taliban intelligence was denying his detention and providing no information to the family about his place of confinement. The reason for the detention of this former military official had not been clarified up to that point. Allah-Dad Badizi leaves behind three wives and 14 children.

The family of Allah-Dad Badizi, a former military official in Helmand province, say that the Taliban, after approximately six months since his detention, handed over the remains of his body along with the body of one of his friends to their families. According to Badizi's relatives, these two individuals had been killed by gunfire after their detention.
