Sources: Taliban arrest at least eight women in Herat again

Taliban Promotion of Virtue agents continue to detain women and girls for failing to adhere to the hijab standards prescribed by the group. Forces from this department patrol the city, monitoring women's attire.


No precise information has yet been released about the fate of the women detained in Herat. Previously, witnesses had reported that female employees and veiled Promotion of Virtue agents of the Taliban forcibly loaded women into vehicles and took them away.


Similar reports have emerged from other provinces, including Kabul. Videos of violent confrontations by Taliban agents with women and their forced transfer to vehicles of this department had previously been shared on social media.


Sources say a large number of the detained women had adhered to the Taliban's prescribed dress code. Previously, reports had also surfaced about Taliban agents inspecting the mobile phones of detained women.



Local sources in Herat say that the Taliban detained at least eight women in the Jibril area of this province on Saturday and took them away. According to the sources, these detentions have continued in other parts of the city, including the "64-meter" area.
