Jamiat-e-Islami: Taliban will face a lesson-making defeat against the will of the Afghan people

The party stated in a declaration on Saturday, August 10, that the Taliban, described as "violence-prone," have no place among the people of Afghanistan and warned that the group will face a "salutary defeat" in the face of the collective will of the people.


The protests in Yaftal Payan began after local residents said Taliban forces had subjected a woman to a body search. Residents of the area said that, in addition to this incident, the Taliban's pressures and "widespread oppression and tyranny" against the local population had also been major factors in sparking the protests.


Prior to this, local sources had said that Taliban forces had opened fire on the protesters in Yaftal Payan to disperse them. According to these sources, the shooting had resulted in casualties; however, the exact number of dead and wounded has not yet been determined.


The Islamic Coalition Party of Afghanistan, in its declaration, condemned what it called the "crimes of the Taliban" and emphasized the need for unity and solidarity among the people of Badakhshan and other Afghan citizens to counter the "oppression and tyranny."


The party also expressed support for what it termed the "legitimate defense of citizens" and the struggles of Afghan women against the Taliban.


The declaration stated that the people of Badakhshan have a long history of fighting against tyranny and justice-seeking movements, and they will not submit to pressure and force.


The Islamic Coalition concluded by stressing that the Taliban must realize that in the face of the will of the Afghan people and the collective resolve of citizens, it will face a "salutary defeat."

The Islamic Coalition Party of Afghanistan has condemned the Taliban's treatment of protesters in the Yaftal Payan district of Badakhshan, accusing the group of using violence, violating the fundamental rights of citizens, and disrespecting the culture and values of the people.
