Amnesty International: More than 100 killed in US airstrikes on high seas

According to Amnesty International, these attacks are illegal, inhumane, and dangerous under international humanitarian law, and the use of lethal force in such circumstances has no justification whatsoever.

The organization has also called on the United States Congress to immediately halt the U.S. military's repeated airstrikes against unidentified boats in open waters.

According to this report, these attacks are part of a broader U.S. military campaign against boats and vessels that are allegedly involved in drug trafficking; a campaign that began in September 2025 in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean.

It is said that so far, in the course of these operations in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean, at least 104 people have been killed and more than 28 boats have been targeted.

Amnesty International has announced that the United States killed more than 100 people in open waters in two other airstrikes on December 19.
