CENTCOM announces the beginning of US military support for "Project Freedom" in the Strait of Hormuz

In a statement published on X, it was stated that this mission is being carried out under the leadership of the U.S. President and aims to support commercial ships that intend to pass safely and freely through this vital international route. CENTCOM has also emphasized that approximately one-quarter of the world's oil trade is conducted by sea, and a significant portion of fuel and fertilizer is also transported via the Strait of Hormuz.


Brad Cooper stated that supporting this defensive mission is fundamentally important for maintaining regional security and global economic stability, and at the same time, actions to maintain the maritime blockade will continue.


In another section of the statement, it was noted that the U.S. State Department, in collaboration with the Department of Defense, introduced a new initiative last week to strengthen coordination and information exchange among international partners in the field of maritime security. According to CENTCOM, "Operation Liberty" is being implemented by combining diplomatic efforts and military coordination.


According to this report, U.S. military support for this plan will include destroyers equipped with guided missiles, more than 100 land- and sea-based aircraft, multi-purpose unmanned systems, and approximately 15,000 military personnel.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that American forces will begin supporting "Operation Liberty" from Monday morning, Middle East time, with the aim of restoring freedom of navigation for commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
