Pakistan names Afghan citizen as perpetrator of suicide attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Mr. Tarar stated that in this attack, which occurred on October 4 at the "Aman Meela" checkpoint in Dera Ismail Khan, 11 people were killed and 32 others were wounded. According to him, the attacker detonated a vehicle packed with explosives at the site.


Dera Ismail Khan is located in northwestern Pakistan, near the Afghan border.


Pakistan's Information Minister added that after the explosion, armed militants also attacked staff from the Rescue "1122" agency who were near Daraban transferring the wounded. According to him, in this attack, two rescuers were killed and another rescuer was wounded.


Tarar claimed that technical and intelligence evidence indicates that this attack was organized by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, and the attackers were Afghan citizens. He urged the Afghan Taliban to prevent the use of their country's territory for carrying out attacks against Pakistan.


Relations between the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan have become extremely tense in recent months following Islamabad's accusations regarding the activities of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan from Afghan soil.


A senior Pakistani official also told "Express Tribune" that relations between the two sides have reached a "point of no return." According to this official, efforts by Turkey and Qatar to reduce tensions between the two sides have so far yielded no concrete results.


In recent days, border clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani forces have also been reported in parts of Paktia, Nangarhar, and the Kurram region of Pakistan. Prior to this, Pakistani airstrikes in the provinces of Kunar and Paktika and border clashes had added to the tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.



Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan's Minister of Information and Broadcasting, said during a press conference in Islamabad on Monday, October 6, that an Afghan citizen was responsible for the suicide bombing with a "car bomb" in Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
