Amnesty International has called for the immediate release of Hamid Farahadi from Taliban prison.

This human rights organization, on Wednesday, 24 Saur, expressed concern about Hamid Farhadi’s mental and psychological health in Bagram prison through a published statement.

According to reports, Farhadi was detained by Taliban intelligence in Kabul on 13 Sunbula last year and was sentenced to two years in prison by a court ruling on charges of "propaganda against the Taliban regime"; a charge attributed to him due to his reports on restrictions imposed on girls’ education and women’s professional activities.

Amnesty International emphasizes that this journalist was tried without access to a lawyer and has been subjected to mistreatment in detention. Additionally, his transfer from Pul-e-Charkhi prison to Bagram was carried out without informing his family, and visits with him are allowed only once a month under supervision.

The organization has warned that the continuation of the current situation could have serious consequences for Farhadi’s physical and mental health.

Amnesty International, in a statement, called for the unconditional release of Hamid Farhadi, an Afghan journalist, from Taliban detention.
