After Haqqani's remarks; Taliban leader: Know your qualifications

Hamidullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman of the Taliban, published the text of the remarks by the leader of this group on Tuesday, November 25, on his X account.

Akhundzada has asked officials to perform their duties in accordance with what he calls "Sharia" and to make no distinction between the poor and the wealthy. He also reminded that anyone who takes on a responsibility must receive the necessary training and act with awareness.

These remarks came after statements by Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban's interior minister, who said last week that a government that rules people solely through fear and violence is not a true government, and that trust and affection must be established between rulers and the people. Haqqani's statements drew reactions from individuals close to Akhundzada.

The Taliban leader also emphasized the handling of prisoners, stating that they should not be tortured, should not be punished without a court ruling, and that opportunities for education should be provided to prisoners.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly criticized the Taliban for widespread repression, arbitrary detentions, and the torture of prisoners. Reports indicate that Taliban forces have detained critics, journalists, and individuals associated with their opponents, with cases of torture and mistreatment documented.

Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of the Taliban, emphasized in his recent speech at an educational seminar in Kandahar the need for the group's officials to be aware in carrying out their duties, stating that members must avoid discord, negligence, and arbitrary decisions.
