The institution, in a message published on the social network X, has requested families to prepare their children under five years of age to receive the polio vaccine.
Although precise details regarding the provinces included in this campaign and its duration have not been announced, health authorities have stated that the goal of this program is to prevent the spread of the polio virus.
According to the institution, the first positive polio case in 2025 was recorded in Badghis province.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only remaining countries in the world where the children's polio virus has not yet been completely eradicated.
The "Polio-Free Afghanistan" institution has announced that a new round of the children's polio vaccination campaign will begin across the country on Monday (1 Saur).
