Iran warns US: New attacks will face 'long and painful' response

Meanwhile, Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, emphasized Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz in a message, stating that under the new administration, "the enemies' exploitation of this waterway will be eliminated."


Reuters news agency, quoting a U.S. official, reported that Donald Trump is set to receive a briefing on plans for fresh military strikes against Iran; an action described as aimed at compelling Tehran to negotiate.


The release of these reports initially caused oil prices to rise, with Brent crude reaching over $126 per barrel; but they later fell.


Meanwhile, Iranian media have reported the activation of air defense systems in some areas of Tehran to counter small drones and unmanned reconnaissance aircraft.


Additionally, Abbas Araghchi stated that halting Israel's attacks on Lebanon was part of the ceasefire agreement and will remain a key issue in future developments.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has warned that if the United States resumes its attacks, it will respond to U.S. positions with "prolonged and painful retaliatory strikes."
