Women's Rights Watch: Taliban's refusal to investigate girls is misogynistic

This organization has deemed this action misogynistic, anti-education, and contrary to the principle of meritocracy, emphasizing that this policy constitutes a blatant violation of fundamental human rights and an instance of structural gender discrimination; a process that, according to it, is pursued in line with the systematic elimination of women from higher education, the job market, and their professional futures.


According to the Afghanistan Women's Rights Watch, the continuation of this approach indicates the Taliban's organized policy of depriving women and girls of their right to education, employment, and equal participation in society.


This organization has added that depriving women of access to academic documents, in addition to creating obstacles to continuing their studies, severely limits their scientific and professional opportunities both within the country and abroad.


In continuation, this organization has called on international organizations, universities, and academic credential evaluation bodies not to remain silent in the face of this action and to establish alternative mechanisms to provide independent evaluation of Afghan students' academic credentials, especially those of girls.


It has also called on UNESCO to exert greater pressure on the Taliban, using its expertise and specialized authority, to lift educational restrictions, reopen pathways for the education of women and girls, and put an end to discriminatory policies.

The Afghanistan Women's Rights Watch has strongly condemned the Taliban's recent decision to refrain from certifying women's academic documents, as well as the directive from Nida Muhammad Nadim, the Taliban's Minister of Higher Education, to public universities to withhold certification of students' grades and academic documents for submission to international institutions.
