Taliban News raids Paygard News Agency office, arrests media franchise owner

According to this report, Taliban intelligence forces raided the Pegir News Agency office in Kabul on the evening of Tuesday, May 5, searched the office, and then took Ahmad Javid Nezami away along with media equipment and materials.


Informed sources told Kabul Times that, four days after the detention, there is still no information available regarding Mr. Nezami's place of detention, his health status, or his fate—a situation that has heightened concerns among his family, fellow journalists, and media support organizations.


Kabul Times has described this action as alarming and emphasized that the continued detention and pressure on journalists is a sign of increasing restrictions on freedom of expression and media activity in Afghanistan.

Kabul Times News Agency, citing its own sources, has reported that Ahmad Javid Nezami, the owner of the Pegir News Agency and a senior member of the Independent Journalists' Union of Afghanistan, has been detained by Taliban intelligence forces in Kabul, and no information about his status has been released to date.
