Pakistan warns Taliban of consequences of not fighting terrorism

Dar called on the Taliban to end the supply of weapons and assistance to terrorist groups and to prevent the use of Afghan soil for attacks. He described the presence of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other armed groups in Afghanistan as a threat to regional stability.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister said Islamabad had previously raised its concerns with the Taliban in talks and in the trilateral meeting with China and Afghanistan in Kabul.

In response, Zabiullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, had previously stated that blaming Afghanistan would not solve Pakistan's problems and that Islamabad must address its internal crises. At the same time, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan's Information Minister, claimed that more than 20,000 terrorists, including 6,000 TTP members, are present in Afghanistan.

Regional officials have previously expressed concerns about the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan. Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, stated on October 2 that these groups pose a threat to the Commonwealth of Independent States countries.

Isaac Dar, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, warned on Monday, October 12, that the Taliban's failure to combat terrorist groups based in Afghanistan would have consequences for the group. He stated at the International Conference on Strategic Studies in Islamabad that terrorism remains a major challenge for the region and the world.
