German Chancellor Defends Fight Against Taliban to Deport Afghan Refugees

Deutsche Welle media reported on Wednesday, June 23, that Merz emphasized in the German parliament that these actions do not signify the normalization of the Taliban regime.


According to him, diplomatic relations between countries always exist, and such relations with Afghanistan have been maintained in the past as well.


Meanwhile, the German government is utilizing communication channels with the Taliban to advance the process of deporting Afghan migrants—a matter that has faced widespread criticism from a number of representatives in the "Bundestag" (German parliament).


It had previously been reported that Germany has accepted two Taliban representatives at the Afghan embassy and consulate in Berlin and Bonn.

Friedrich Merz, Chancellor of Germany, has defended engaging in dialogue with the Taliban regarding the deportation of Afghan migrants, deeming it in line with Germany's interests.
