Taliban clash with farmers in Badakhshan; At least 15 killed, 60 injured

According to sources, at least 15 people have been killed and 60 others injured in the clashes so far.


It has also been reported that several helicopters have been seen heading from Kabul toward Badakhshan.


The conflict in the Khash district began on Monday, (9 Saratan), following the Taliban’s attempt to destroy poppy fields and the farmers’ opposition to it, with Taliban forces opening fire on them.


Local sources in Badakhshan said on Tuesday that the Taliban fired on protesters again while residents of the Khash district were holding demonstrations against the destruction of their fields.


According to sources, Khash residents have stated that if the situation continues, they intend to set fire to Taliban administrative offices.


However, the Taliban have not yet commented on the matter.


It is worth noting that previously, Taliban operatives have repeatedly clashed with farmers over the destruction of poppy fields and fired upon them.

Local sources in Badakhshan confirmed on Tuesday that Taliban fighters have once again clashed with farmers in the Khash district over the destruction of poppy fields.
