Spanta: The Afghan people will resist any Taliban plan

Mr. Spanta wrote in a message on the social network X on (Thursday, May 7) that Afghanistan has been able to resist "superpowers" in various historical periods. This message was also reposted by Hamid Karzai, Afghanistan's former president.

Criticizing Pakistan's policies, he said that this country itself faces crises of separatism and terrorist threats. According to Spanta, the people of Afghanistan seek peaceful relations with the people of Pakistan; however, the will of the Afghan nation is "stronger than the atomic bomb."

Afghanistan's former foreign minister also wrote that whenever the existence and name of Afghanistan are threatened, the people of this country will give a decisive response to the enemies.

In recent years, especially after the Taliban's return to power, discussions about the disintegration of Afghanistan or the creation of a decentralized political structure have been raised by some political figures, activists, and social media users.

These reactions intensified after Maria Sultan, head of the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute, stated that Afghanistan might lose part of its geography in the new regional order and would not remain with its current structure in the future. She cited the lack of strong leadership and the difficulty of managing crises in Afghanistan as the reasons for this situation.

In response, Taliban officials emphasize that they have foiled plans related to "the disintegration of Afghanistan."

Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Afghanistan's former foreign minister, in response to remarks by the head of a Pakistani institute about the possibility of Afghanistan's disintegration, stated that such scenarios have always failed throughout history. He emphasized that Afghanistan, despite interventions by foreign powers, has managed to preserve its territorial integrity, and the people of this country will respond to any threat.
