Iranian President: I will not resign and I will ask for it

These remarks by Pezeshkian came after Mohammad Bagher Kharrazi, Secretary-General of Hezbollah Iran, had previously claimed that Iran's president had resigned or threatened to resign 28 times. Kharrazi also alleged that Mojtaba Khamenei, leader of the Islamic Republic, had publicly warned that he would accept a resignation if Pezeshkian repeated it.


In recent weeks, reports and speculation have surfaced regarding disagreements between the Pezeshkian administration and certain governing institutions on domestic issues and foreign policy. However, no official in the Islamic Republic has yet confirmed the claims of repeated resignations by the president or the warning attributed to Iran's leader.


Masoud Pezeshkian assumed the presidency following Iran's snap presidential election, held after the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash, and began his official duties in Asad 1403.

Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, stated in a segment of the teaser for his upcoming televised interview, which is set to air on state television, "I will not resign and I will stand firm." He emphasized that if he decides to step down, he will announce it officially.
