US Congress members announce practical action to resume immigration cases for Afghan citizens

In a meeting hosted by the Afghan Cultural Society in the state of California, two U.S. Congress members, Josh Harder and Adam Gray, along with local officials, representatives of civil and refugee organizations, media, and members of the Afghan community, discussed the serious challenges facing Afghan refugees applying for U.S. visas.

In this meeting, participants examined the consequences of policies that have caused the suspension or delay in issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports. According to participants, a large number of cases, despite the completion of lengthy security reviews, remain in limbo, and this situation has left hundreds of Afghan families facing severe psychological distress and uncertainty.

The Congress members present at the meeting emphasized that they will convey the voice of the Afghan community to decision-making institutions in Washington and will strive to reactivate the halted immigration processes as soon as possible. They added that addressing the situation of Afghan refugees is a humanitarian and moral responsibility and should not be further delayed.

This meeting took place at a time when many Afghan families have been waiting for years for their immigration cases to be resolved, and they hope that the fresh promises from U.S. officials will lead to practical steps and tangible results.

A number of members of the United States Congress have announced that they will take concrete actions to resume the halted refugee processes for Afghan citizens, particularly in humanitarian sectors, family reunification, and Special Immigrant Visas (SIV).
