Germany: Transfer of Afghan refugees from Pakistan to be completed by the end of this year

He stated that the review of cases and the execution of flights are a priority for the German government, and the transfer process is now being carried out at a faster pace. Wadephul warned that delays could have serious consequences for the refugees.

The German Foreign Minister also announced that an agreement has been reached with the Pakistani government to extend the residence of Afghan citizens awaiting transfer for another six months, thereby preventing the risk of their deportation.

The final decision on accepting or rejecting the asylum requests of Afghan refugees lies with the German Ministry of Interior after a complete legal and factual review. This also includes the re-evaluation of some cases.

Afghan refugees, who are mostly former collaborators with German institutions and individuals at risk, received promises of transfer following the fall of Kabul. Previously, Germany has transferred dozens of them from Pakistan to the country in several flights.

The German Foreign Minister has announced that the process of transferring Afghan refugees from Pakistan to Germany is continuing at an accelerated pace, and it is expected that all flights will be completed by the end of the current calendar year. Johann Wadephul has described the situation of Afghan refugees waiting in Pakistan as serious.
