OCHA: 16 million Afghan citizens need water and sanitation assistance

The agency wrote on Monday, the first of Jauza, in a message on X that families are facing difficulties in accessing clean water, and emphasized that with the scarcity of water, people's daily lives are also undergoing change.


OCHA warned that as a result of the water shortage, children are more than others at risk of health hazards.


The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs once again called for the immediate attention of the international community and the provision of necessary funding to deliver vital assistance in the water and sanitation sector to millions of vulnerable Afghan citizens.


Meanwhile, international organizations had previously also warned about the consequences of successive droughts and climate change in Afghanistan under Taliban control.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced that estimates indicate that in 2026 AD, 16 million Afghan citizens across the country will need assistance in water, sanitation, and hygiene.
