Qatar and Pakistan announce progress in Iran-US talks

The two mediating countries, in a joint statement, described the atmosphere of the negotiations as "positive and constructive" and reported encouraging progress, including the establishment of a mechanism for continuing technical negotiations.


According to this statement, working groups in the areas of nuclear issues, sanctions, and dispute resolution will operate under the supervision of the high-level committee, and senior negotiators will regularly report to this committee.


Qatar and Pakistan also announced that a communication channel has been established between the parties to prevent incidents and misunderstandings in the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, the parties have agreed to form a unit to reduce tensions in Lebanon and oversee the implementation of the end of military operations in that country.


Ismail Baghaei, the spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had previously stated that progress had been made in the Swiss negotiations regarding the end of the war in Lebanon, oil sales, the release of Iran's frozen assets, and the Strait of Hormuz. He added that the Iranian delegation left the quadrilateral meeting after "threatening" remarks by the United States, and the talks continued through mediators.

Qatar and Pakistan announced that Iran and the United States have reached an agreement in the Swiss negotiations regarding the formation of a high-level committee to oversee the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, the immediate start of technical talks, and the drafting of a roadmap to achieve a final agreement within 60 days.
