Norway contributes $2.6 million to UN Trust Fund for Afghanistan

According to official information from the United Nations Trust Fund, with this latest contribution included, Norway's total contributions to the fund from previous years to date have reached more than $49.3 million. Norway ranks as the third-largest donor to this fund for Afghanistan in terms of contribution amount, following Sweden and Germany.


Since 2021 CE to date, 16 countries and donor agencies have collectively paid more than $277 million to the United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan; resources that are used to support humanitarian programs and provide essential services to the people of Afghanistan.


The Norwegian government has emphasized that this country's contributions do not go directly to the Taliban, but rather reach the people of Afghanistan through multilateral institutions and non-governmental organizations.


Norway has also stated that equal access for women and girls to services is one of the main conditions of this country for supporting aid programs in Afghanistan.



The United Nations Trust Fund for Afghanistan has announced that Norway has contributed a fresh $2.6 million to this fund. The fund has welcomed Norway's new contribution and stated that this country's sustained support enables United Nations agencies to provide more services to the people of Afghanistan.
