Damascus, Syrian Democratic Forces reach temporary ceasefire after heavy fighting in Aleppo

According to reports, these clashes have also resulted in civilian casualties, with at least two civilians killed and several others wounded. The intensity of the unrest had heightened concerns about the security situation in the region.

The Syrian state news agency (SANA) reported on Monday evening, quoting the country's Ministry of Defense, that the cessation of hostilities was carried out by direct order of the Syrian army's general command, with the aim of reducing tensions and preventing further humanitarian consequences.

Hours after this announcement, the Syrian Democratic Forces also issued a statement confirming that, as part of efforts to reduce violence, they had instructed their forces to refrain from responding to attacks by government forces.

This agreement comes as the security situation in northern Syria continues to be described as fragile, and international organizations have repeatedly warned about the impact of the clashes on civilians.

Following intense clashes between the Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in the city of Aleppo, the two sides have reached a temporary agreement to contain the violence and prevent the escalation of tensions.
