Pakistani media: ISIS Khorasan commander killed in Mazar-e-Sharif

According to these media outlets, the individual was named "Mohammad Ehsani" and was known by the alias "Anwar." He was of Tajik ethnicity and was active as a commander of ISIS-Khorasan for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

Pakistani sources have written that Anwar was responsible for escorting and training Tajik suicide bombers of this group and transferring them to Pakistan.

It is said that he was one of the main facilitators of the suicide bombing in the Kocha Risaldar area of Peshawar city in 2022; an attack in which 67 people were killed as a result.

Taliban officials have not yet reacted to this matter.

This comes as the Taliban have consistently claimed that ISIS-Khorasan has been eradicated in Afghanistan and no longer has any presence or activity in the country.

Pakistani media have reported that a commander of the Islamic State Khorasan Province group was killed by unidentified gunmen in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province.
