Nearly 4,000 Afghan refugees were forcibly returned to the country in one day

According to information provided by the High Commission for Handling Migrant Issues, on Monday (30th of Qaws), more than 3,900 individuals, including 713 families, entered the country via various border routes. These individuals were transferred to Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar, Torkham in Nangarhar, Bahramcha in Helmand, Islam Qala in Herat, and the Silk Bridge in Nimruz.


According to this report, the largest number of returnees entered the country via the Torkham crossing, totaling 2,448 people. Additionally, 877 individuals returned via Spin Boldak, 411 via Bahramcha, 1,031 via the Silk Bridge, and three others via the Islam Qala route.


Officials from this commission have stated that initial assistance, including food supplies, health services, and basic facilities, has been provided to the returning migrants. According to them, these measures aim to reduce immediate hardships and address the primary needs of the returning families.


Meanwhile, the situation of Afghan migrants in Pakistan and Iran continues to be reported as concerning. Published information indicates that in various cities of Pakistan, Afghan migrants are facing extensive inspections, detentions, and the risk of forced deportation.


On the other hand, international organizations emphasize that the process of deporting Afghan migrants has intensified over the past three years. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has announced that since the beginning of 2025 alone, approximately 2.8 million Afghan citizens have been returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran.

The Ministry of Refugees under the Taliban administration has announced that in the past day, nearly four thousand Afghan migrants have been forcibly returned to Afghanistan from neighboring countries.
