Taliban spokesman calls Russia's removal of the group from terrorist list realistic

"The Islamic Emirate is a movement that fights for the independence of Afghanistan and represents the Afghan people," the Taliban-controlled National Radio reported Tuesday (April 3rd).

He emphasized that removing the Taliban from Russia's list of terrorist organizations is a realistic measure and that other countries should be realistic about the Taliban.

Although Mujahid stressed that the Taliban is the "main representative" of the Afghan people, no country has yet recognized the country as Afghanistan's legitimate government, and many political groups do not endorse its domestic legitimacy.

However, the Taliban spokesman said that if other countries took steps to engage with the Taliban, their action would be commendable.

He added that given the facts about the Taliban, trust will be built between the group and other countries and will lead to important advances in the political and diplomatic arena.

Russia is considering removing the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations while Kazakhstan's ambassador to Kabul has previously said that the country has officially removed the Taliban from the list of terrorist groups.

The Taliban spokesman welcomed Russia's move to remove the group from the list of terrorist organizations as "a good and realistic act".The Russian Foreign Ministry said the issue of removing the Taliban from the list of Russian terrorist organizations is under investigation.
