United Nations: Afghanistan is the largest producer of opium and heroin in the world.

The United Nations Narcotics Control Unit says in a report that although the Taliban have spoken of fighting against the cultivation and production of poppy, Afghanistan is still the largest producer of heroin and opium in the world.

According to the UN report, Afghanistan is the fastest producer of methamphetamine (an advanced type of drug) in the world.

The United Nations claims in the report that methamphetamine was produced less than 100 kilograms in 2019, but the production of this type of drug has reached 2,700 kilograms in 2021.
