The Afghan flag has been lowered to half-mast as a result of the fatal Herat earthquake, officials at the Afghan Embassy in Tajikistan stated today.

According to accounts, this earthquake claimed the lives of over 2000 people and damaged at least 12 villages.

As a result, worldwide organisations and institutions pledged their support for the earthquake survivors.
