Thomas Wiest, the US ambassador for peace relations in Afghanistan, expresses condolences for the innocent Shiites who were killed in the suicide attack on the Imam Zaman Mosque in the town of Pul-Khumri.Shiites in Afghanistan have endured a great deal of bloodshed in recent years, Mr. Weist remarked.

A few social media users, however, have fiercely attacked American foreign policy in Afghanistan and claimed that the country backs terrorist organizations.

These users view the US's deal with the Taliban, as well as Ashraf Ghani, the fugitive president, and the US's handover of Afghanistan to the Taliban, as a major betrayal of the Afghan people.
