Talban: A UN peace representative is not necessary

The Taliban group's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a newsletter that Amir Khan Motaghi, their foreign minister, will be meeting with Robert Dixon, the charge d'affaires of the British Embassy.The Taliban group's deputy spokesman for foreign affairs, Motaghi, remarked at the meeting that, for the most part, he thought the UN Special Envoy's report on Afghanistan was positive. However, he stated that, given the current state of affairs, the UN Special Envoy for Afghanistan is not necessary.The UN Secretary General desired to choose a representative to maintain peace in Afghanistan following the report of his special representative.
